I just changed my primary care physician and it wasn't easy emotionally. I
really like my doctor and he has an excellent reputation, but the office,
especially the receptionists was driving me crazy. Ask her to make a copy
of something in your records and you might get it in a month. The doctor is
so busy now you can't get to see him for two weeks. My girlfriend mentioned
my concerns to him the last time she saw him and he had no comment, so I can
only assume he is trying to cut back his patient load and is now glad I'm
gone.
I asked a few friends about who to see and got a recommendation. Made a
meet and greet appointment yesterday and was able to see him today, plus
number one. I had to wait awhile to see him but the staff was great,
offered me water, tea, whatever, plus number two. Finally saw him and we
hit it off. He went over my medications and questions and was more in line
with me than my now old doc, plus three. Takes my insurance. Plus four. I
could go on and on but let's just say I'm happy and glad I made the
switch -- so far.
Let's just say if you are unhappy with your doc -- for any reason -- don't
be afraid to switch. Just make sure to follow the wingwalkers rule: Don't
let go of one thing till you've grabbed onto something else.
