WEEKLY MINI-FAQ
Welcome to alt.support.anxiety-panic.moderated, known as
ASAPM. This is the Weekly Mini-FAQ, a set of hints on how
to make everyone's experience at ASAPM more enjoyable. I
post this FAQ on Tuesdays per tradition. I welcome
suggestions on ways to improve this document. I would prefer
suggestions sent in e-mail. For links that no longer work, a
recommended alternative would be appreciated. While no
vote will taken for changes to this document, for some
changes a discussion might be called. For comments or to
request a copy, people can e-mail me at
asapm-***@drrhodes.org
ASAPM also has a full FAQ overview of anxiety conditions,
which is posted here monthly. If you would like a copy
sooner it can be obtained via the URL or e-mail address
listed above.
Even if you skip the lists of essential URLs and
other information, please take time to read the hints
and tips at the end of this, before you start posting.
This mini-FAQ is best viewed in a fixed font.
At the end of this document there are some commonly used
acronyms (e.g. YMMV) that some of you may find useful.

HINTS AND TIPS
It is best to read any newsgroup for a week or so before
posting. Often you will find that a question you has been
previously addressed.
ASAPM is a special newsgroup in that it is moderated. All
posts are expected to follow the newsgroup charter and
moderation guidelines. While speaking freely is
encouraged, a post that does not meet the charter or
moderation guidelines is subject to not being posted. Most
posts will have no trouble meeting these rules, but the
moderation team encourages posters to read these documents.
The moderation guidelines are posted to ASAPM on a regular
basis. They can also be found at
http://www.algebra.com/~asapm/Policy.txt
The charter is posted to ASAPM about the same time and
may be found at
http://www.algebra.com/~asapm/Charter.txt
A main theme behind moderation of ASAPM is to avoid
attacking and flaming of other posters. Three topics
particularly likely to lead to attacks or flames are
religion, politics and the alleged addictive properties of
benzodiazepine medications, such as Xanax. Avoiding these
subjects can help prevent posts from becoming unacceptable
and therefore subject to moderation.
You might feel that religion is an integral part of your
recovery process. By keeping statements about the role
religion has had in your recovery to how you are helped by
it, you can help keep posts from becoming unacceptable.
POST ARCHIVAL
You might decide you don't want your posts archived at
Google.com . This is an individual choice and you can
prevent your posts from being archived by putting a line of
"X-No-Archive: yes" in your header or as the first line in your
message body. Your software might have an option to do
this for you.
If you reply to a post that has the "X-No-Archive: yes"
field, it is considered good manners to put it in your post as
well. An alternative is remove the name and e-mail address
of the person you are quoting.
